Abstract

From the early 1980’s,1–3 interest in epidemiology of IDDM has increased over the world. In Poland, the first register was set up by Rewers et al. for the midwest part of the country.4 In 1986, the “Three Cities Study” in Krakow, Warszawa and Wroclaw was initiated on a population basis, including more than 1.6 million people.5 The register was included in the EURODIAB program in 19896 and the WHO DIAMOND Project in 1990.7
