Through Transmission Patterns in Solid Tumors

Abstract

Through transmission is the sound energy that passes through a structure and is then recorded by the receiving transducer. If the receiving transducer is also the sending transducer, an echo producing medium must be immediately distal to the structure to qualitatively document the acoustical beam intensity. Through transmission is inversely proportional to the attenuating properties of the medium. It is registered on the oscilloscope as the number of echoes and their amplitude at the distal interface of the region insonated.
