About the editors

John D. Denstedt, MD, FRCSC, FACS, FCAHS graduated from medical school in 1982 at The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. He completed his residency in Urology at Western between 1983 and 1987 followed by a fellowship in Endourology at Washington University in St. Louis. He returned to London and joined the Division of Urology in the Department of Surgery at Western in 1990.

In July 2002 he assumed the role of City-Wide Chair and Chief of the Department of Surgery at Western University and served in this role for 14 years. Dr. Denstedt is a Past Chair of the Canadian Association of Surgical Chairs and a past member of the American Urological Association Board of Directors. He completed a 10 year term as Treasurer of the Endourological Society in 2018.

While maintaining an active clinical practice, Dr. Denstedt is an internationally renowned scholar in urology with career accomplishments encompassing over 250 published papers and book chapters, more than 400 guest professorships in countries throughout the world and numerous honours and awards including being the first Canadian to have won the Gold Cystoscope Award from the American Urological Association in 1998. In 2019 he was awarded the Karl Storz Lifetime Achievement Award from the Endourological Society. Dr. Denstedt has served on the Editorial Board of eight major journals in Urology and is the immediate past Executive Editor of the Journal of Endourology. He is currently the immediate past Secretary of the American Urological Association the world’s largest Urology organization with over 24,000 members worldwide.

Dr. EVANGELOS N. LIATSIKOS MD, PhD, MBA is the new Chairman of the European School of Urology (ESU). He is a Professor of Urology and the Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University Hospital of Patras in Greece. He was elected as the Medical Director of the University Hospital of Patras on October of 2020. He is a Guest Professor at the University of Leipzig in Germany. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He was Chairman of the European Section of Uro-Technology (ESUT) from 2016 to 2020. He is distinguished in literature for his research in Laparoscopy and Endourology, with his work accounting for more than 300 international publications. Dr. Liatsikos has also been invited as a speaker and live surgeon in a series of the most prestigious urological congresses worldwide. For his scientific contribution, Professor Liatsikos was nominated for the “Arthur Smith Endourology Lectureship” award in 2009 by the World Association of Endourology. He also received the award of “Academic Endourology Fellowship Program Director” on November 2016 during the World Congress of Urology. In May 202, he finalized successfully the Master in Business Administration (MBA).
