Mock circulatory system with a silicon tube for the study of pulse waves in an arterial system

Abstract

A mock circulatory system (MCS) was developed to replicate the characteristics of the arterial system. An MCS was developed with Windkessel to evaluate the performance of the pulse-generating component. After the linear motion of the piston had been designed, the angular motion of the motor was calculated by using a computer-aided kinematic analysis. An MCS was developed with a silicon tube to replicate the propagation of waves in the arterial system. To evaluate the simulator, we simulated the effects of the diameter, thickness, and length of the tube on the pressure wave. The results corresponded with the physical phenomena of the arterial system.
