Localization of Rayleigh waves in microfluidic channels with quadratic profile

Abstract

Localization of Rayleigh waves due to mechanical loading of the substrate surface by a liquid layer with quadratic thickness variation in the transverse direction was theoretically studied. Under conditions typical of acoustic biochips, strong localization of the wave field was revealed. This makes it possible to calculate the lowest waveguide modes of the microfluidic channel, neglecting its finite width.
