Surfactant-Based Modifier for Motor Oil

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The market for motor vehicles is experiencing an acute supply shortage. In that context, it is important to extend the life of existing vehicles. The working life is shortened, in particular, by high wear of the contacting surfaces during the operation of internal combustion engines and the appearance of corrosion spots during prolonged downtime. A potential remedy is to use modifiers in motor oil that increase the surface energy of machine parts. The proposed inhibitor improves the antifrictional and anticorrosion properties of metal components that are especially susceptible to wear. The lack of existing inhibitors indicates the need to develop such a product.
