Prospects for CNC Machine Tools

Abstract

The main global trends in the production of high-technology CNC systems are identified. Topics analyzed include system architecture; the use of high-speed industrial networks based on fieldbus technologies; the potential of multiple-channel and multiple-axis machining; spline interpolation in the machining of complex contours and free surfaces; and five-coordinate machining with 3D correction of the tool radius and length. In the light of global trends, decisions are made regarding the development of the AksiOMA Kontrol CNC system.
