Determining the mechanical characteristics of nonlinearly elastic materials by vibrational tests

  • Published:
Russian Engineering Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The equations of free vibration of a nonlinear system are solved numerically by the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method on the basis of vibrational tests of a rigidly fixed PVC cantilever beam. The solution is optimized by the Nelder–Mead method in terms of the key parameters. The dissipation and nonlinearity of the material are determined.
