Abstract
Three European bisons, one male and two females, were brought to the Vologda oblast in 1991. The number of bisons was 22 in 2008 and 44 in 2011, of which 40.9% were mature animals and 59.1% were young. During acclimation good fertility of the bison cows was noted—twin calving was observed twice.
