Abstract
Intensification of the separation of water-tar emulsions is analyzed in theoretical and practical terms. The formation of the coal-tar emulsion in tar deposition and its preparation for storage and use is considered. The best method of breaking down the emulsion is to intensify gravitational settling by means of a new deemulsifier, with reduced reagent consumption. Industrial trials at PAO Zaporozhkoks show that the chosen deemulsifier is able to reduce the moisture content of the tar that is most resistant to separation from 8–15% to 2–4%, without the need for complex equipment.
