Abstract
A mathematical model of the radiation-convective heat exchange in a working space of the VULON furnace intended for heat setting the raw material during the production of carbon fibers is developed. According to the results of a numerical experiment with the use of the mentioned model, the possibility of automatically controlling heat setting by controlling the temperature of electrical heaters mounted in furnace channels is shown. The temperature mode for heaters without overburning the bundles is calculated for concrete samples of the bundles of the polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber with the application of experimentally found physicochemical constants of reactions running during the heat setting of the fiber. Recommendations for optimizing the preparation of the raw material to heat setting and the system of air supply into the working channel of the furnace are presented.
