Abstract

The effect of the composition and structure of vermiculite-based tribotechnical materials used for the formation of thin-film coatings on 40Kh grade steel exerted on the operating ability of a crankshaft–bearing insert friction assembly of a marine medium-reverse diesel engine is examined. In order to vary the composition, structure, and properties of the initial layered silicates, the latter have been modified using acid and different polymers, resulting from which the operating ability of the formed thin-film cermet coatings has been changed.
