Prospects for Manufacturing Friction Disks from Cold-Rolled Steel

  • Published:
Steel in Translation Aims and scope

Abstract

Assessment of the influence of design factors on the performance of friction disks is given. The necessity of reduction of warpage of disks and residual stresses in them is shown to increase the operational reliability of friction units of caterpillar and wheeled vehicles. The analysis of the achievable accuracy of manufacturing friction disks is carried out. The technology of manufacturing disks from cold-rolled steel C67S has been studied. To increase the operational reliability of disks, it is proposed to manufacture them using dynamic stabilization, which, while reducing technological costs, provides the specified accuracy of disks in terms of deviation from flatness, a decrease in residual stresses in them, and the tendency of disks to warp.
