Steel in Translation Aims and scope

Abstract—Evaluation of molecular iodine and copper(II) compounds as oxidizers of metals and alloys in contact with acid-containing media at a temperature of 22 ± 5°C has been carried out with respect to the following: to their efficiency in the direct branch of the macroscopic stage, to the selectivity for salts as final products, to the presence of the nature of by-products and their relative amount, to the range of additional oxidizing agents under use and their activity, to the amount and products of their reduction, to the requirements in terms of the solubility of reagents and conversion products, from the standpoint of increasing in the yield of target products due to the weight of oxidizing agents, the purity level of the resulting product and the variants of its purification, the use of reaction mixture components in repeated loads, the availability, natural origination thereof, etc. It has been substantiated that the use of J2 is much more appropriate for the oxidation of separate metals in order to obtain a particular salt as a target product. However, in the oxidation of alloys, copper(II) compounds are in many cases more advantageous.
