Abstract
In manufacturing pipes by drawing, a number of preparatory operations is required, one of which is fixing and holding the front end of the pipe using the pipe gripper mechanism of the drawing bench. In this case, the preparation of the end of the pipe for drawing can be carried out by using lever radial-forging machines (RFMs). A mathematical model is given for determining the forging force on a lever radial-forging machine when preparing pipes for drawing for various cross-sectional shapes of pipe ends under cold and hot deformation. The dependences of the forging force on the wall thickness are obtained, and a comparative analysis is made of the forging force magnitude of pipe ends under cold deformation conditions using the pipe sizes chosen as an example.
