Effect of Welding Thermal Cycle on the Forming in a Section of Straight-Seam Pipes with Large Diameters

Steel in Translation Aims and scope

Abstract

The forming of the cross-section of pipes during the thermal cycle of welding in the production of straight-seam electric-welded pipes has been experimentally studied. The experimental data on the change in the pipe ovality between the assembly and expansion operations have been obtained. The diagrams of changes in the vertical diameter of the front end of pipes during the welding of inner and outer seams have been obtained. It is found that the direction of the ovality of the pipe cross-section shows a sign-changing behavior.
