Abstract
This article considers the technology of making high-quality steels in electric arc furnaces on fresh furnace charge with the oxygen lancing of metal. To improve the performance indicators, the input of oxygen was dispersed and made under the heel level. The temperature of hot spots on the melt surface was decreased by adding after meltdown some part of furnace charge to the region between electrodes. The specified measures reduced the steelmaking duration, waste of metal, and specific energy and oxygen consumption rates.
