Optimizing the matrix profile in a pipe-shaping press

  • Published:
Steel in Translation Aims and scope

Abstract

A dynamic model of the pressing of seamless pipe is developed. The influence of the matrix’s generatrix on the energy and forces in the deformation region is established. Interpretation of the basic Euler variational problem for the direct pressing of pipe on a cylindrical mandrel yields the optimal matrix profile.
