Strain hardening of structural steel with above-uniform strain

Abstract

The relation between the strain hardening and mechanical characteristics σ0.2, σu, and Ψf of structural steel and alloys is considered, in above-uniform plastic deformation. Three groups of structural steel may be distinguished, in terms of the variation in strain hardening. The correlations obtained permit the prediction of the strain hardening of structural steel in different groups at considerable plastic strain on the basis solely of the characteristics σ0.2, σu, and Ψf. The strain hardening is determined for some steel samples, and the precision of the method is assessed.
