Abstract
The influence of various factors on the encrustation rate in the reducing zone of a shaft furnace is mathematically analyzed. The probability that large particles will be formed increases on approaching the tuyere band, with corresponding rise in encrustation rate. In addition, the encrustation rate increases with increase in the content of fines.
