Abstract
To increase the working life of slipping cathode contacts on systems for brass-plating metal-cord blanks, argon-arc surfacing of chemicothermally treated wire is proposed. The wear resistance of the contacts is ensured by forming in the surface coating nitrides, borides, and carbides with high hardness.
