Abstract

The extraction of water-soluble total alkylresorcinols from the tar water of the Kiviter shale-chemical process with methyl isobutyl ketone was studied. The effects of the volume ratio between contacting phases, the time and rate of mixing, the temperature regime, and the initial concentration of total phenols on the degree of their extraction were considered. A maximum recovery of 99% was obtained. The advantages of methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) over butyl acetate (BA), which is used in the operating production process, were shown.
