Abstract
The chemical nature of the tarry-asphaltene and oil components of natural bitumen from the Ashal’chinsk deposit was studied. Fragments bound through sulfide and ether bridges were detected in the molecular structures of asphaltenes and tars, respectively. It was shown that these fragments contained n-alkanes, alkylcyclohexanes, naphthalenes, phenanthrenes, aliphatic acids, and dibenzothiophenes, which had similar molecular-weight distributions. Phenylalkanes, biphenyls, alkylxylenes, alkyltrimethylbenzenes, naphthalenes, and phenanthrenes were identified among the aromatic hydrocarbons of oil components, and benzo-, dibenzo-, and naphthobenzothiophenes were identified among heterorganic compounds.
