Abstract

The results of studying the adsorption properties of black coal, semicoke, and waste coals from a number of coal deposits in Irkutsk oblast and Sakhalin and the Irsha-Borodino deposit are reported. The results of a comparative study of the adsorption capacity of adsorbents for organic compounds and metals (Mn, Cr, Fe, Cu, Zn, and Ni) from sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid solutions are given. It was established that the adsorption of heavy metals on semicokes and ash residues in a sulfuric acid solution occurred somewhat better than in a hydrochloric acid solution. The test samples of coal and coal conversion products are good adsorbents.
