Abstract
The productivity of the Potanai oil field is determined by the Abalak Formation. Based on the cyclicity and the structural and textural patterns of the formation, it has been established that its sediments accumulated in a transitional area between an alluvial plain and a delta. Three provenances provided material for the formation. The first provenance, located relatively close to the sedimentation basin, was permanent, while the second source was characterized by intermittent activity, and the third one (the most remote) was activated in late Abalakan time.
