The Magnetic Phase Diagram of High Tc Superconductors

Summary

In summary, the magnetic phase diagram of high temperature superconductors has proven to be much richer and more complex than expected. With the benefit of hindsight, it is likely that more detailed studies on low temperature superconductors will also reveal such behavior. The practical implications of these effects are severe. Most applications of superconductivity require supercurrents, which are excluded from the vortex fluid region. The relative independence of this region on defect concentration bodes ill for increasing the temperatures and fields at which supercurrents first appear, although substantial current densities have been achieved in the region below the irreversibility line.
