Abstract

A robust, reliable and sensitive method is described for the simultaneous determination of diazepam, methaqualone, chlorpromazine and promethazine in swine muscle and liver tissues by GC–MS. The analytes were extracted with ethyl acetate and further clean-up performed with MCX solid-phase extraction cartridges. LODs and LOQs in the two tissues ranged from 0.2 to 0.3 μg kg−1 and 0.5 to 1 μg kg−1, respectively. Mean recoveries for the analytes ranged between 87.6 and 106.8%.
