Effect of the LIM kinase 1 isoform ratio on Drosophila melanogaster courtship behavior: A complex approach

  • Published:
Russian Journal of Genetics: Applied Research

Abstract

LIM Kinase 1 (LIMK1) is the key enzyme of the signal cascade of actin remodeling leading in the nervous cells to dendrite spine reorganization required for synaptic plasticity during learning acquisition and memory formation. The results of the complex analysis of courtship behavior during learning acquisition and formation of middle-term memory in Drosophila strains Berlin, Oregon-R, and agn ts3 polymorphic for the limk1 gene are presented in this work. Two approaches were used: conditioned courtship suppression and communicative sound production in comparison to the brain’s LIMK1 content of analyzed strains.
