  • Published:
Studies on Russian Economic Development Aims and scope

Abstract

The article provides estimation results of the impact of the state program “Socio-economic deve-lopment of the Far Eastern Federal District” on regional economic growth. The econometric modelling implements synthetic control method (SCM). The research results demonstrate that the state program is more effective in economically developed Russian entities. In the lagging behind regions, which are observed by lesser gross regional product (GRP) per capita, the implementation of the program shows lower efficiency. The results significantly contribute to the existing literature on policy evaluation and allow proposing policy implications for regional policies improvement.
