Tin Chloride-Mediated Grinding Method for the Synthesis of Thiazole and Imidazole Schiff Bases and Their Herbicidal Activity

Abstract

Twelve new heterocyclic Schiff bases were synthesized by condensation of 2-acetylthiazole and 2-butyl-4-chloro-1H-imidazole-4-carbaldehyde with substituted anilines by the simple and low-cost SnCl4-mediated grinding method. Among the synthesized compounds, three derivatives showed a good herbicidal activity, and two compounds showed excellent activity.
