Abstract

A one-parameter mathematical model of an H2Se–H2 mixture generator based on packing with selenium reflux was constructed using the results of an experimental study of the H2Se synthesis in packed columns and taking into account published data on the kinetics of the reaction of H2 with selenium. The model correlates practically important generator characteristics with the synthesis zone conditions and with the size and design parameters of this zone. For several particular cases, numerical values of the model parameters were found, and equations for calculating the mixture composition were obtained. They can also be used in other cases, e.g., for tentative estimation of the generator size and working conditions required for generating a mixture with the required characteristics.
