Tetragonal cubanoid Cu4X4 in the isostructural π-complexes with divinyltetramethyldisiloxane: [Cu4X4(C8H18OSi2) (X = Cl, Br)

Abstract

The formation of the heterocubanoid fragmen Cu4Y4(Y = Cl, Br, I, O, S) in the structure of the Cu(I) complexes is often associated with the appearance of valuable properties (catalytic, thermal, chemiluminescence, and others) of these compounds. The Cu4X4 cluster (X = Cl, Br) found in the isostructural π-complexes with divinyltetramethyldisiloxane (DVTMSO) (space group P \( \bar 4 \), Z = 1, a = 10.2330(2) Å, c = 7.6877(3) Å for [Cu4Cl4(DVTMSO)2] and a = 10.2633(1) Å, c = 7.9514(3) Å for [Cu4Br4(DVTMSO)2]) makes it possible to discuss the homological chain of the Cu4X4 cuprohalide fragments from the viewpoint of steric (conformational, symmetric) and electronic (d Cu → π*(C=C)) properties of an organic ligand.
