Abstract

The composition of ethanol-soluble substances from balsam poplar buds has been determined by the chromatographic and spectral methods of analysis. It has been shown that the main group of compounds of the alcohol extract comprises neutral substances of which acyl glycerides and sterol ethers account for more than 60%. The alcohol extract also contains sesquiterpenoids and flavonoids, substances having antimicrobial action. The results of the study indicate that balsam poplar buds can be used as raw material for obtaining preparations of different action.
