Imbedding equation and a small parameter in the problem of an irregular waveguide

Abstract

Application the imbedding method to description of a particular case of an irregular waveguide, the horn transition, is considered. It is shown that the appearance of a small parameter allows simplification of calculations performed with classical methods. The matrix Riccati equation is obtained from the generalized scattering matrix of the irregular waveguide. Cases of E- and H-polarized fields are analyzed. For these cases, analytical expressions for the coefficients of the imbedding equation are obtained.
