Abstract
The properties of nuclear vertex constants and of asymptotic normalization coefficients are considered along with methods for determining these quantities. Recent assertions in the literature that the properties of bound states cannot be extracted from phase shifts for a single partial wave are shown to be incorrect. A new method for determining vertex constants that employs both data of partial-wave analyses and analytic properties of scattering amplitudes is proposed.
