Pretransition Phenomena in the Vicinity of Structural Phase Transition in Crystalline Sodium Carbonate

Abstract

Molecular relaxation processes in crystalline sodium carbonate Na2CO3 have been investigated using Raman spectroscopy. It is established that the structural first-order phase transition in Na2CO3 is diffuse. The existence of a pretransition region is found.
