Investigation of two carboxamide compounds containing heterocyclic rings as carbon steel corrosion inhibitors in HCl solution

Abstract

Potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and fast fourier transform continuous cyclic voltammetry were used to study the inhibition effect of two new synthesized carboxamide compounds on carbon steel corrosion in 1.0 M HCl. All studies showed that the synthesized compounds create a protective layer on the metallic surface. Fast Fourier transform continuous cyclic voltammetry reveals that the inhibitors adsorption occurred in almost similar rates. DFT calculation was used to describe the experimental results.
