The thematic issue of the Herald of the Russian Academy of SciencesAmerican Studies in Russia” was drafted by a team from the world-renowned Russian think tank—the Georgy Arbatov Institute for U.S. and Canada Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences.

The institute was founded in 1967, at the height of the Cold War, and since then has made its intellectual contribution to the development of a better system of international relations, based on the search for compromise and trust, on consideration of mutual interests and adherence to agreements.

This issue contains articles on domestic and foreign policies of the United States and Canada and on current international and regional security issues by the Institute’s leading scholars.
