Abstract

Last year, the campaign targeted at discrediting the Russian Academy of Sciences in public opinion gained momentum once again. A publication in the journal Ekspert (Expert), the provisions of which are questioned by the authors of the article published below, contributed much to this campaign. In addition, the authors offer proposals that could strengthen positive tendencies in Russian basic science.
