Abstract
In the epoch of the knowledge-based economy, human capital is becoming the key productive force and stimulus of progress. Researchers are acquiring a special role, and the global struggle for them is gaining momentum. The situation in this sphere in Russia is analyzed from the example of a breakthrough research field.
