Abstract
International collaboration between Russia and the 27 EU countries in the field of natural and social sciences is discussed. A coefficient of the connection between the countries is introduced, the coefficient being based on comparison between the real number of coauthored publications by two countries and the theoretical one, which is calculated on the assumption that their coauthored publications are statistically independent.
