Removing heavy metals from soil with plants

Abstract

Phytoextraction, a simple and thrifty method of removing heavy metals from soil, is described. It involves planting and cultivating selected agricultural plants for a certain period at polluted sites to remove metals from the soil by the root system and to accumulate these metals in the aboveground biomass.
