Abstract

Comparative analysis of exact and approximate solutions to the problem of mass transfer in a liquid phase under conditions of laminar film flow on vertical surfaces under homogeneous and inhomogeneous boundary conditions is given. It is shown that the rate of mass transfer in the liquid phase derived from an exact solution is considerably lower than the rate determined from the known approximate solutions. Equations for calculating the Sherwood number derived from exact and approximate solutions are given and compared.
