The First Find of the Marbled Spinefoot Siganus rivulatus (Siganidae) in the Black Sea

Abstract

The paper reports the first find of the marbled spinefoot Siganus rivulatus Forsskål et Niebuhr, 1775, which is a new species for the Black Sea, at the southeastern coast of Crimea. Two-year-old individual 124.2 in the total and 105 mm in standard length was caught on November 10, 2020 in the Dvuyakornaya Bay water area near the city of Feodosiya in the northeastern part of the Black Sea. Basic morphological characteristics of the fish are presented below.
