Abstract

The structure and properties of magnetic inhomogeneities, such as 0° domain walls localized at solitary defects of a uniaxial crystal, have been studied. It has been shown that, under definite conditions, inhomogeneities of two types differing in the amplitude, width, and energy of the domain wall can arise at one and the same defect. It has been found that, at defects of relatively large dimensions, both types of the inhomogeneities prove to be energetically more favorable than the uniform state. The contribution of these inhomogeneities to the processes of spin reorientation in real magnets has been considered, including phenomena induced by an external magnetic field.
