Abstract—

A system for saturating a porous medium with hydrocarbon and supercritical CO2 has been designed. A procedure for carrying out an experiment on the saturation of a porous medium with hydrocarbon and supercritical CO2 has been developed. A new design of the experimental cell with a porous medium has been created. Using this cell, it is possible to measure the pressure and temperature along the entire length of the experimental cell and to monitor the state of carbon dioxide. The setup for measuring the solubility of supercritical CO2 in hydrocarbons has been upgraded by introducing a new experimental cell and a system for saturating a porous medium with a hydrocarbon and supercritical CO2. The upgraded experimental setup can be used to study the phase transitions of supercritical CO2 from the CO2 dissolved in the hydrocarbon and vice versa, as well as the effect of a porous medium on the phase behavior of the hydrocarbon–supercritical CO2 system. The results can find application in investigations of the thermophysical properties of gas-saturated hydrocarbons in the oil-producing, petrochemical, and machine-building industries.
