Abstract

Probes for diagnosing charged particle beams have been developed. An extended probe in the form of a single carbon fiber is tested on the beam of a small-sized betatron. A local spherical probe on a suspension made from a single carbon fiber is proposed. The range of possible local probe dimensions under conditions of acceleration chamber vibration is experimentally determined. The operating range of current densities for accelerated electrons of the sounded beam is evaluated by results of the thermal stability tests for copper probe under high vacuum.
