Abstract

The possibility of controlling the trajectories of ion beams in a time-of-flight mass analyzer with an axially symmetric electric field is considered. It is shown that a double grid installed at the input of the mass analyzer can change the coordinates of ions entering the mass analyzer, thereby leading to an increase in the analyzer transmission efficiency and, as a result, in its sensitivity.
