Effect of corrosion in 0.1 M Na2SO4 on the structure and properties of a soft-magnetic Fe-P-Si-Mn-V-C alloy in an amorphous and a relaxed state

Inorganic Materials Aims and scope

Abstract

We have studied a soft-magnetic amorphous alloy with the optimal composition Fe76.5P13.6Si4.8Mn2.4V0.2C2.5, prepared using ferrophosphorus. The results demonstrate that the electrochemical characteristics of the alloy in the amorphous state and after relaxation are comparable to those of a commercially available Fe-Si-B-Nb-Cu (Finemet type) alloy. Corrosion has no effect on the magnetic properties of the alloy.
