Raman scattering in an opal-sulfur composite

Abstract

We describe the fabrication of an opal-sulfur composite through vacuum infiltration of synthetic opal with molten sulfur. The room-temperature low-frequency Raman spectrum of the nanocomposite thus prepared indicates that its pores are filled with orthorhombic sulfur.
